as we all know, SYF's over.. we got a Bronze.the exact opposite of what everyone expected. Nevertheless, everyone knows that we did our best. So do not be too upset about it okay?
Since SYF is over already, the current EXCO finally has the time to begin setting up the
Alumni Club. We are still in the process of starting everything up so that we could all
get in touch with one another easily. Besides this blog, we've got the online forum set up by Yi Hee. And i've set up the facebook group. so feel free to add yourself in there, so that we can

HELLO people.
It's SYF in 3 more days. 28th April 2009..it's the big SHOWDOWN!
the many practices we've had. the many scoldings we got. the many encouragements we get. the many disappointments we've had. and the list goes on.
we've come thus far, and we're going to emerge as a winner.
we're all in this TOGETHER :D.
we've got so much help be it teachers, instructors, JC1s, external help etc. so we gotta do the best we can on the stage ok?.
don't worry and just go up, be confident and play with all your heart and enjoy it.
it's a good experience and a time which makes us one.
keep up the good job everyone!
no matter what the outcome is..we're still winners deep down inside our hearts:D
haha.i'm done with my rantings. wouldn't say that much coz the president want to add on to it.

ohkay.the blog was being neglected again and blog's gathering dust.! for more than 2 months!
many things happened.
First and foremost,
WELCOME JC1s to Guitar Club! i know this is kinda late but still.better late than never!
hope you peeps are enjoying guitar..i'm sure after SYF,you guys will have more fun!keep up the hardwork:D

and next i guess will be PREPARATION and PRACTICES for SYF
we had a short practice at NUS and a so-called exchange with AJC and YJC..like what Mrs. Teo said, we did sound better and louder and AJC and YJC are getting worried.but remember we had a few NUS GE people backing us up as well..so we need to continue PRACTICING HARDER, CORRECT THE MISTAKES and MEMORIZE the pieces.

the more recent one will be competition @ Republic Poly TRCC.
i guess we were expecting ourselves to not win anything...but we've gotta change this mindset. other ensembles are indeed better than us.but that's only for now and not forever.most of us have only 1 year to learn the basics of guitar and start learning for SYF. and some of you JC1s have prior trainings before that but have lesser time to master the songs. anyways, that's not the point..we've gone and realised how much we're lacking behind.but i'm sure we've learnt a few things from both the concert and competition.
remember, being the last and not winning is not the crux of the whole event. what matters most is the process. do not take it as a failure.every step we take, it's an EXPERIENCE. we LEARN from our EXPERIENCES.
it was truly a memorable experience for all of us isn't it? but i guess we really learnt from our experience in one way too.we became more focused on the next practice and we achieved much more improvements than we usually do. there was a feeling of satisfaction in most of us right? even Mr. Chua said our Katioucha piece definitely has chance for a GOLD already. next will be brushing up on Katioucha and focusing even more on Night Music. all we need is just determination, discipline and enjoy the process. together we can make guitar practices fruitful and fun! we'll pursue our goal together as one. we've got the best teachers and instructor with us as well. they are there to scold us if we need, to motivate us and guide us along through all these. WE ARE ONE! remember our goal :GOLD! (with honours --> that's what bro paul wishes for).We can, we will and we must! Keep a positive mindset throughout and never let our confidence falter, despite the tough challenges some of us face at times.

okok.enough of my propaganda rantings. jia you everyone!

We persevere and therefore we will acheive.

Hello EVERYONE!

the 2009 open house is finally over..GOOD JOB to all of us, ,even though there weren't many people who went to the open house.according to some of our audiences, the song was alright. but still...we need to brush up on our skills and be prepared for SYF. It is in APRIL! besides that we still have a guitar competition coming up in March.that means we have no time to waste!anyways, school will start next week and so will our practice. It will start on the first Wednesday of the term! more details will be given to all of you through sms and it will be posted on this blog!

so ... enjoy the rest of your holidays! 2 more days!( to finish all the undone homework).

looks like the blog is really dead.it's yet another new year.
HAPPY 2009 :D

anyways..here are some announcements which Mrs. Tie wrote on the board today. Just in case some of you didn't get it down somewhere, I'll post it up here.

Meet Up Time: 11.00am for warm-ups (we'll order some lunch!)
Official Time: 1.00pm - 6.00pm
(We'll be expected to stay for awhile to clear up.If we're fast, we'll take less than 30 min)
Venue of Guitar Booth: Auditorium (On the left near the Entrance)
Venue of Performance: Performing Arts Centre (PAC)

SETTING UP OF BOOTH& REHEARSAL:

Date: 8th January 2009 (Thursday)
Time: 10am - 4pm (Might end earlier)
Rehearsal Time: 12pm
Venue: Performing Arts Centre (PAC)
- I guess we'll have to order lunch too.

On the 8th, besides rehearsal and some last minute brush ups for the songs, allocation of duty for the Open House will be given to each and everyone of us. Also, we have to help clean up the room, decorate the guitar boards and set up the booths. So we'll all be ready for the open house! With so many things to be done, I know it'll be a very long day. But hope you all will bear with it! It'll be fun! :D. If there's any questions feel free to ask me.

hey people.

remember during our last practice we probably mentioned that the uniform for the concert was mostly settled? well, now it's not. If you people did see the tags on the tagboard, you'd probably notice we have a huge problem.

THE GUYS' SHIRTS COST 60 BUCKS APIECE. i'm pretty sure none of you wanna pay that much just for a shirt right.

So we have to think of something else, for both the guys and the girls. So here's a plea for help. Anyone has any suggestions for where we can get affordable, presentable shirts of similar style as the previous one? If it's similar enough, then the previous SYF people wont need to get new shirts.

ours actually looks better than majority of the other schools!

The concert pieces on CJGE's side are finalized. The pieces are

Canon in D
La Cumparsita
The Entertainer (J1s and J2s combined)
Brazilian Coffee (J1s's piece)
Stomp - Solo (by Gladys, our distinction holder for Grade 3)
Adios Muchachos - Duet
You Raise Me Up (combined with SJI, Finale Piece)
Dance of the Yaos (combined with SJI, encore piece)

SJI has another 4 or 5 ensemble pieces, and 2 small groups. IJTP will be playing Pasko and Planting Rice as Guests.

When the tickets are ready for our concert (on 18th July), I'll post here.

Guitar camp will start on the 4th of July, after lessons, and end in the evening on 5th of July.

And J3s 2008, where exactly did last year's SYF shirts come from? We are planning on using the same ones and need to get the contacts and stuff so that we can get them on time.

concert details update as of 16thMay

here's the latest news on the concert

there will be two combined pieces with SJI.
One of them is You Raise Me Up. One SJI boy and one CJC girl will sing this piece.
The second piece is Dance of the Yaos. This particular arrangement was played by North Spring Primary in the 2006 SYF and they got a GOLD. A bit challenging on the 1st guitar part, but should be manageable.

That's all i have again. Unless you guys want to know what IJTP is planning to play for their guest performance at the concert, but it's still tentative so I thought I won't post it.

Exams are coming. Mug hard! don't be a slacker like me! ):

Concert in JULY!

This year's combined guitar concert with SJI will be held on the 18th July 2008. Here's what I know so far.

Pieces include Canon in D, The Entertainer and La Cumparsita (different arrangement from before)
There is at least one small group piece from our side (which is a duet, but the piece is still unconfirmed)
There is at least one combined piece with SJI.
IJTP Guitar Ensemble will be guest performing.

It doesn't sound like much now, but until i get more details from Mr Chua, and SJI, this is all we have to work on. J1s have expressed interest in playing pieces in small groups, so we'll work something out there too. Yup.

Also, any of the J1s and J2s have blogs for me to add on to the links here, leave a tag on the board or poke me on msn!

New Exco up!

Yup this is the new exco from the J1s, excluding the concert mistress Wee Kie. For now, there would be two committees running at the same time; more work can be done in a shorter time ( especially since the concert is coming up in July and mid-years before that ). While the J1 exco takes care of the pre-concert camp, the J2 exco will be planning the concert itself, and anything else up to end of July.

And I've updated the achievements and the hall of fame section ( it took me so long to do it the previous time i decided to make up for it by updating earlier this time round. XD) if there's any error please tell me so that i can edit it!

I called Raj that day and spoke with him. He sounded quite disappointed to leave us just as we are about it, but, he wished us all the best! I enquired about the next guitar instructor and he said he was a nice guy... Haha, but honestly, who's nicer than Raj? Santa? ;)

He did mentioned that it would be great if the alumni can help out in CJGE's performance this July. And I think that's what we shall do. CJGE Alumni Ensemble is going to be up and running soon. Still've got some planning to do before it becomes official. I hope every alumni would be supportive. Not for anyone else but for Raj and CJGE.

We'll should also go down to Beach Hut one weekend to visit Raj. Needa choose a good day where most of us can make it. Beach Hut's at Marine Cove btw. Good chill out place!

We are going for an ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) Guitar Solo Exam. A group are going for the Grade 1 and another for Grade 3. Basically we'll be tested on four components, 3 pieces, Scales and Arpeggios, Aural and Sight Reading.

A Warm welcome to our new teacher-in-charge, Ms Violet Teo.

Ms Teo was also formerly from AJGE and she was their Student Conductor/Treasurer. She has strong music background in Piano as well as Guitar, so for the rest of us smoking away during ensemble practise by moving your fingers nonsensically up and down the fretboards, she'll grill ya real good..

Lesson number 1: pay attention to Raj if you haven't been doing that... We're gonna make people pay for instructor fees soon cuz of a serious budgit deficit (dun blame me if that makes no sense my econs = U).. And also, to make bo chap attitude towards free guitar lessons into ai chap attitude for paid guitar lessons... We need em.. =)

Hi everyone.. Your Librarian here.. As some of you might have known, our library has just expanded from having 2 guitar books to 3 guitar books and 2 national geographic!! (All these books are sourced from our instructor Raj) The details are as followed...

The guitar books

5 Of The Best For Guitar Metallica combined with Eric Clapton unplugged plus 2 extra songs ( New Arrival) The first part of the book comprises of famous songs by our favorite bands including "Metallica", "...And Justice For All", "Kill 'Em All" and "Master of Puppets". The second part consists of 14 songs by a well known singer Eric Clapton. The other two pieces are songs by Kurt Cobain and "Guns N' Roses". All the pieces come with full tablature for you to refer to and also the lyrics of the song. How cool is that!!
Guitar Popular Ensemble 1 This is a Japanese book that contain 7 ensemble pieces in total. These pieces comprise of 4 sections to be played. One of the pieces, A Windy Hill has been chosen for the seniors of 2007's piece. Grab at least 3 of your friends if you are interested.. Where else can you get to borrow an imported guitar book?!!
Guitar Tunes (Guitarlog) This book consists of folk songs all over the world. All the pieces are classical solo pieces. This is a perfect book for guitar beginners and a great book to learn your sightreading skill! The titles are mostly unpronounceable. Curious? Get it from our GE Library.

National Geographic Jan 2007
National Geographic March 2007 As many of you know, National Geographic is famous of its beautiful pictures. And once again they are available in our GE Library, free of charge!!

How to borrow: Ask me to get the book for you. When you are sure of borrowing it, I will record down your name and the title of the book. Yupz..

I would like to encourage everyone to be enthusiastic about the books. (there might be new books coming along the way then ^^) I also want to point out that these books can be a good reference for all of us, especially the J1s who will be preparing for the combined concert next year.

Lastly, since our guitar practices for June Holz is just over, our library will only be openned on term 3. One thing to look forward to after all the stress over Mid Years... :)

Holiday Practises

PRACTISES
There will be practise (once again, a gentle reminder, all practises are compulsorily compulsory) this coming Wednesday, 6th of June. Thereafter, we'll have a 3 week mid-year examinations break. This means nothing but 3 weeks of self-practise at home (and study).

PERFORMANCES
Our confirmed up and coming performance will be during CJC's Art's Week but exact details are not confirmed yet. I will inform you guys asap as soon as the SC starts planning for it (as usual, CJC's SC are marvelous people, they can plan big events last min in a matter of like, just 2 days).

BLOG
I need people to help me maintain the CJC guitar blog (it's in ruins i know, thanks to me, and no thanks to nobody else maintaining it). E-mail me if you are interested, i'll tell you how to update blog.

GUITAR OUTING
I've heard juniors as well as seniors mentioning it so i'll just like to suggest it to everyone. There's no "welfare" committee in guitar club as yet, and so, nobody is really in-charge of planning outings and all but we shall do this more efficiently. If you got any suggestions, grab some people and come out with something and forward them to the current ex comm members (everyone with positions in the contact list) and cc/bcc to the rest of the club. Its ok if we got more than one ideas. the more the better, we can combine them.

INTERVIEWS
Interviews for executive committee positions will be postponed after mid-year examinations because many people are currently overseas.

Revised Practise Schedule

There's no practise for J1s this Friday.

New practise schedule:

With effect from next week, J1s will have practise EVERY Wednesday & Friday unless otherwise stated.

Practise time: 3pm to 6pm

Location: Meet in guitar room at 3pm. If there are sectionals, it will be held in various places around school. If there are lessons, it will be held in the guitar room with Raj. We usually assemble back in guitar room at 5pm for entire ensemble practise before dismissal.

Some of you may have lessons until 3pm on one of these days. If so, please eat your lunch during one of your earlier breaks instead. You will be allowed to come for practise latest by 3.30pm.

Please be punctual for all practises, otherwise the whole ensemble will have to wait for you.

Don't forget to hand in your write-up to either me, Ms Angela Teh or Ms Tan Jiu Lie by this week!

Long Weekend

I would like to ask everyone for nothing but full dedication to the guitar ensemble from now onwards.

If we continue with our current pace, we'll be getting CoP with Honours for SYF.

Sacrifice a lil' for these coming two weeks and when SYF comes we'll do it once and we'll do it right... and we'll get our well deserved break depending on our results.

Gold: 1.5 weeks break
GwH: 2 weeks break

This Blog Ain't Dead

Yes the title says it all.. The reason why there're no posts lately is because

1) i'm the only 1 in the current batch who has blog access...
2) i'm busy

Anyway, the exchange programme was a real wake up call for us... SAC played ultra beautifully as usual...

GENUS concert was also great. I like the sound guitarone makes. My contra bass pales in comparison. :(

Anyway again, syf is on the 19th April and our intensive practise have started since last Monday. We have 22 days more to go and we have 14 more practises to go. Academic results will dip a lil during this time but everyone must endure! We NEED nothing short of a silver.

SYF players: Mon, Tues, Thurs 4 to 6pm. wed and fri 3 to 6pm.
non-SYF players: err i'm still trying to get the e-mails of j1s and they don't know about this blog yet... so no announcements for them as for now.

Finale Notepad is where u guys can download a programme that allows you to edit midi files and view scores of midi files. highly recommended.

Metronome Online is really useful for people like me. too poor to buy a metronome. the website version one does just as good, just that the tink gets a little irritating after 10 or so minutes of continuous playing...

Music Theory teaches music theory (duh). i haven't tried it yet, but i think it'll be quite fun self-learning music theory. Please learn some music theory so that we can improvise a jam one day for fun...

S.O.F.T. - It's Music in Singapore links you to a website maintained by local musicians for local musicians. the forum section is quite infomative. there's a gig section where all the local gig venues dates and all're there and theres a cassified ads section for those of us who're interesting in selling stuff or buying 2nd hand stuff...

Ultimate Guitar links u to the infamouse tab site. apart from tabs, there're lots of other things such as reviews and lessons there... one of the best place to find tabs and chords for our favorite songs!

I'll link more stuff such as studios and all soon but in the mean time, make use of the fret board trainer and the music theory lessons!

Chinese New Year's Performance

We're given a performance slot for cny celebrations thanks to ms teh! There's no guitar practise this wednesday due to the school's cross country event. So the 5 of ya, Regina, Pin, Yu Juan, Ming Sheng and Jia Le have got to meet up during breaks or after school to practise the cny medley together for this friday's cny performance practise. don't go there malu arh!

As for the rest of us, please learn our 2nd syf piece by next friday. It's harder than the 1st, but it's nice if we can pull it off. We'll most probably have at most 2 or 3 sectionals for this and the rest of the time we'll be working on our cohesion and dynamics. At the same time, please remember the 1st piece by hard as hock lu has done so that we can actually focus on the conductor when we're playing together instead of looking at our scores. i'm still working on the midi file (bad headache... Need to meet SL's soon to teach ya'll how to use guitar pro...) and will most probably be ready by this weekend.

Jamming with our combo band was exceptionally good esp for today. We're almost fully geared for next tuesday's Rockefella III auditions. only 6 out of 20 bands will make it through so wish us luck!

Since nobody's really keeping this place updated except perhaps tze or me, i figure i might as wellpost some stuff once in a while.

1. ISSUES CONCERNING PAY RAISE
~Soldiers with Rolex watches and/or driving expensive cars to work obviously DO NOT need pay raise.
~Soldiers who find themselve running out of money and have problems making ends meet DO NOT need a pay raise. They need to learn how to budget for things.

2. ISSUES CONCERNING ANNUAL LEAVE
~With effect from today, the 14 days annual leave has been cancelled. In its place, soldiers will be given 104(One Hundred and Four) days annual leave. They shall be known as "Saturdays" and "Sundays".

3. ISSUES CONCERNING SICK LEAVE
~Medical Certificates, be it from private or government medical institutions, will NO LONGER be accepted.
~If you are well enough to go see a doctor, you are well enough to work.

4. ISSUES CONCERNING FUNERALS AND/OR DEATH OF NEXT-OF-KIN AND/OR FRIENDS
~Soldiers are NO LONGER allowed to take leave to conduct Funerals, as there is NOTHING you can do about the death since they are already gone.
~Such matters should be left to others who are not affected by work.
~In the event that soldiers have to conduct such activities, they are advised to do so only in the afternoon.
~Soldiers are welcomed to forgo their lunch-break to finish up their work so they can leave earlier in the afternoon.

We're planning a firework-watching outing on the 11 Aug at Esplanade!

Fireworks start at 9pm sharp and before that we'll go for dinner before we head to look for the pretty sight =)

We went once before during Chinese New Year, and now we should do it again because it's VERY VERY PRETTY.

This is my last post before officially stepping down tomorrow! In less than 24 hours, I'll become the ex-secretary! ( Emily must be feeling older now that she's the ex ex secretary! )

Mixed emotions I must say!

One year has indeed flown by so quickly now all I can do is relieve each moment.

I'm not someone who can express myself well verbally, hence I have to resort to blogging here because I am much better with words.

Being with guitar club has really been the best times I had in CJC, I must say nothing else in CJ can beat these really precious times. It has indeed been a wonderful and memorable experience for me to lead guitar club with 2 other very great people! Coming to think of it, to be stepping down and leaving this club physically really pains me.

Every member here has put in so much effort in raising the reputation of guitar club, I can't express my gratitude. I knew all the effort, bloodshed, tears, time that I have put in were all worthwhile when Brother commended us about our hidden talent that day. So suddenly, the world seemed such a pretty place.

I also had tons of fun during all the outings we had together! Be it the BBQ at Tze Wei's house last year when I broke out in rashes, or the J3 farewell party, or the NUS concerts, or all the dinner outings with Karen, Jia Hong, Cherie, Wendy, Ben Lim, Shi Jie, Yong Xin, Jeffrey, Joshua etc etc. Guitar club has never failed to make me laugh whenever I am down. Thanks to everyone who played a part in making my day!

Though you have heard me complain that being the secretary has indeed been a very tough job for me for the past one year ( because I am a perfectionist ), but now coming to think of it, I am really sad to step down to "hand over" to the J1s. It all feels so weird when I don't have to take any more attendance, not scream around for money, not attend guitar meetings, not search high and low for miss teh/ms tan or plan and organize a million zillion things.

In the new committee, thank goodness there will be an extra treasurer post so the poor secretary doesn't have to be the loan shark!

I guess I am grateful that now I have Wednesdays and Fridays free, but of course there's sadness and reluctance in my heart. I really can't bear to leave guitar club! Life just won't be the same again! =(

I would also like to apologize to anybody if I have shown you any attitude/black face/PMS-ed at you because you either always not turn up for practices, or still owe me money! And to the rest if I screamed at you like a mad woman because I was panicking.

Actually, I have so many things to say now I am so confused I can't even put them into words! I think my underlying statement is that - I AM GOING TO MISS GUITAR CLUB!

Now I can't hog the blog and post rubbish anymore, or show my princess attitude when I am pissed etc etc.

But I guess the older generation always has to make way for the younger generation!

And so to the new committee 2006-2007, JIA YOU!

The guitar club spirit will always live in me!

hey guys! long time no post here too.. nice to know tat all the juniors and the juniors's juniors are doing fine.. it was a great concert on a fri night!!the music was good, the playing was tgr (or at least for once haha :] ) , the solos were great! especially liked the finale where both ensembles came tgr to play the brazilian samba song. it really looked like a very big, enhanced, and powerful squad of guitarists playing tgr..

kinda interesting and fun when u see 'stressed playing faces'--> aka jiahong, or "where is my flowers!!?!" aka julia, or "hi tzewei!!" aka miss teh.. again..

oh thanks to dajie/jeff (who came down in army uniform and sat next to me.. so everyone who saw us know tat i muz also be one of the old guards of the cjc guitar club) for attending this concert with me..

the feeling was good really.. it was like a nice get-tgr for the j3s/j2s once again and reliving my-fond- memories of playing fire in front of the damn huge crowd during pac opening..

well now that e concert is over.. i guess its time for u guys to really start concentrating on yr As.. know i might be a nag.. but ya now its really the time for u ppl to work hard.. so dun waste this precious few mths left k? its espcially more impt for the gals i guess..

Hmm the guitar blog has been so quiet these few days I shall liven it up by posting the details about the next guitar practice.

It will be on 3RD JULY, Monday ( Youth Day School Holiday ) from 8am-1pm at the AUDITORIUM. NOT THE PAC please. It'll be a combined practice with SJI.

Please make sure you go to the correct place! Please also make sure that you all turn up for every single practice that we're arranging until our big day because they're all VERY IMPORTANT.

We very much need to practice our co-ordination because we have receieved feedback from our seniors that we are very much NOT PLAYING TOGETHER. And of course we do not want that to happen on our big day, HENCE, the numerous amounts of practices. In case you're oblivious to this, but band had practice EVERYDAY for the week before their concert.

If what we aim for is a rousing applause and an unforgettable experience ( yaa-daa yaa-daa ), we would really need to put in much more effort than before. Thus, I would really appreciate all of you to be at every single practice on time and take all practices seriously.

For those who are not sure of our concert attire, we're wearing white long sleeved shirt ( with collar please! ) and long formal, black pants with black shoes for guys and preferably cod ( is this how you spell it? ) shoes for girls. Do seize the opportunity of this GREAT SINGAPORE SALE and get your stuff ok!

The 5 ensemble pieces are out in mp3 format. Wee Meng has sent it to your emails so please do listen to it and practice hard! If you have not received them please do sms your section leaders or any of the comm members!

THE ATTENDANCE IS LOUSY.

Did I mention that it's tremendously irritating for people to turn up only on wed OR fri when practices are on wed AND fri?

I am not going to mention names.

You all shall be nice people and let me lead a less stressful life by just turning up for practices and NOT BEING LATE even if you come.

Practice starts at 3pm on wed and 3.30pm on fri. If I don't see your face in the CSR by 3.30pm on wed and 4pm by fri, you'll be marked as LATE. Who knows if I PMS even more I'll refuse to mark your attendance.

This is with effect from NEXT WED, 17 May 2006!

Maybe if you all keep skipping practices for stupid reasons I'll make sure each one of you gives me an MC for each time you're absent. Interact Club does that ok, thank goodness I don't have to go around chasing for these. ( Ok I'm nice, pretend I never said that. )

The main point is, if you want a beautiful testimonial ( 80% attendance! ) and less naggings from me ( greatly pointed out by Mr Andrew Lim and Mr Benjamin Cheng ), I would appreciate it very much if you

Anyway, the J1s need files for their concert pieces, thus I'll start to collect money soon. Maybe around $2-$3 per J1. PLEASE STAND BY and don't come and tell me you're broke or "next week, next week" if not I'll just skin you alive -_-.

AND, I've checked the t-shirt price at Queensway shopping centre. The J1s and J2s have voted and thus the shirt will be a WHITE POLO TEE. It's around $15-$18 per shirt.

here's the practice dates for practices until our concert day.

Note that we have 8 normal practices left until our concert itself! It is essential and highly important that every single person who aspire to be part of CJC guitar club's very first concert to attend all the practices.

MAY

Week 8 - Wednesday 3 to 7PM
Week 9 - Wednesday and Friday 3 to 7PM
Week 10 - Tuesday and Wednesday 3 to 7PM
(NB. Tuesday is running on Friday's timetable so Guitar Practice as usual)

JUNE

Week 1 - Wednesday and Friday 8.30 - 12.30PM
(NB 1. Wednesday's practice can be subject to changes should anyone have remedial at the same time. Dear JC1 Guitarists,I apologise for not taking the opportunity to interact with you all during yourpractices. Allow me to take this chance let you better understand the running of the club.We work as an ensemble. This means that every single member is importantbecause each one of you plays an important part in every guitar piece that is played. So, the lack ofcommitment to the CCA affects the rest of the club. I appeal to all of you to keep up your levelof motivation and commitment to the club.

We are training for our combined performance with the newly-formed SJI GuitarClub. This will be held in our PAC on the 14th of July. If you have any suggestions on what songsyou would like to play (even solo or small group), please let Mr Balraj know. There will be practices during the first 2 weeks of the June holidays as well. This concert will be a great opportunity to showcase talent and for all members to experience the joy and the challenges of beingpart of a concert. After all, the Guitar Club is, by nature, a performing CCA.

Finally, it’s you, our JC1s, who will be representing the college for the SYFcentral judging competition next year. Last year was our very first attempt at the competitionand we won a Silver award. We definitely hope to be part of this competition again next year. Success in this competition will look very attractive in your leaving certificate andtestimonial.

The concert in July and the SYF competition next year are the big events comingup. In-between, we might have smaller events, like performing for charity and performing for the school on special occasions. The fun and satisfaction you will get out of this CCA is as much as the effort you put into it. Do encourage your friends to join us if they are interested, butremember that they need to be committed. Plans for the club:JC2 comm members will collect money to help purchase files and print scores foreach of you.Mr Balraj will be building your foundation in guitar on Wednesdays, and therewill be sectional practices on Fridays. Practices are expected to end at 6:30pm. Hope to bring the club to greater heights!

Alright, after the super fun (and tiring) day at the guitar exchange programme, a few of us went to peninsue-lar plaza to check out the supposedly MANY shirt printing stores. Nevermind la, life is full of disappointments, juz try to get something out of it each time ya?

Right i guess i shall start to blog something instersting before it turns stagnant.

Hm. for all those people who are interested in pursuing music as a career option.
You need to get a certificate for musical theory and maybe specialisation in classical guitar.

In a way i felt cheated today when i realised that SINGAPORE did not offer any jazz guitar (only jazz piano and jazz sax)
So it seems apparent that i need to take a classical guitar exam after all.

hi everyone, this is yongxin here.
Firstly, i would like to apologise for not turning up for the CIP at st francis home.
since i had already told you guys that i would be there.
I'm sorry that i pangsehed you guys at the last minute, especially jeff.
Er, well you guys actually its my fault, mandai road does exist, but the st francis home at at the rear end of the end of mandai road leading to the highway to woodlands.

the bus to my home, 138 goes to mandai zoo, over at mandai road.
however that bus takes a big loop around the carpark of the zoo before heading back into the other direction, which is back to ang mo kio.

therefore, stricitly speaking, 138 will not lead me to the home, but back to my own home at springleaf...
At around 3+, i was happily taking a shower and then i suddenly realised it.
hm, sorry for my absence...

i would have liked to go.

dear all, i have a proposition!
i don't know what you guys make of it, so tag or sth. it was some random idea that hit me while i was ~~about to snooze off~~ 'brain-storming'. hahahaha. i was wondering if anyone was interested in starting a cj alumni GE! currently i can't think of any other cca that has an alumni association (well, maybe except for band I THINK) so i thot maybe, just maybe we could start one for ourselves. . organise stuff for alumni, help out where we're needed (like support you guys at performances!) and (hopefully) perform when CJCGE gets to hold its own concert. . (*points* yongxin you still have a chance to solo!) especially since j3s keep coming back anyway. . (okay, so maybe only jeff, yongxin, jj, but they aren't tied down by a job yet). . i think it's worth considering if everyone's interested. . if not, scratch that and forget i ever said anything. .

Hi my loveliest guitar club seniors!

so nice of you guys to come and look at our super nice blog. I would say, that influx and wavering of the J1s has truely given us a taste of what the rest of the year would be like.

This friday would be the O level result's release, and from then on, alot of the future of guitar club would be in your hands. You, Yes you, dun turn around. You seniors will be the ones to influence and determine the culture, the environment and potential our club will have. For example, if seniors play guitar when someone is speaking, then juniors will also play when someone is speaking. *ahem* of cos there's much more la... Since as elders we are a model which the juniors will examplify after.

If I am to predict rightly, CCA bazaar will most likely be next weekish. The club needs all of you to be enthusiastic and passionate about promoting guitar club. I know school and studies is rather distracting nowadays but do try to keep focus ya? I need you guys to give some ideas on what we should do and think about the well-being and advancement of our club this week and submit a 1000 word report k? Alright, dun whine, you dun have to write your report down, you can tell it to mi or wee meng or Ms teh on friday.

Alright if my dearest comrades in guitar club have been listening, you would have noticed that we had a shot at mingling wif the J1s and trying to bond wif them as much so that they would feel comfortable and at home wif you and will take guitar club (even more than CJ or home tutorial) as their own home? That's the power that we as guitar club seniors and members have. Just take a look at Jia Jie, yongxin, Jeffery and edmund who come back time and again. We have that aura and charm and superpower, but unless the guitar club seniors want to it would not be possible. What makes guitar club stick is the totally cool and loving people in it. We need to talk to them and show them what we have got ya?

The challenge is up once CCA bazaar is over and we've got our registration of J1s for guitar club. Only if we work together can we help the J1s realised what fun, enriching experience and difference that they can make in guitar club. All of you guys are so so important k? Please keep guitar club in you prayers and in you mind alright?

J2 will be rehearsing for their CIP performance at C3-002 from 2.30pm-4.00pm. There after, practice with Raj will be followed as from 4.00pm-6.00pm!

GOod Morning everyone, hope that all the j1's and 2's have a great time at school, engaging yourselves in physical activites and partner picking,

(remember all the good ones get picked up before the 1st 3 months are over, better hurry!!)

tee hee hee...

Anyway, this post is mostly meant for the j3's , j2's and j1's (who are extremely sociable or are super duper good friends with the former and the second)

since this friday(theres guitar practice as usual right?), there might be the sudden arrival of jj and mr yx, and mr j and gab during practice session, i have decided to extend out this lovely dinner session to whoever wants to come with us.

rules and regulations,

1) eat cheap to moderate price, any main coures above 20 shall be ignored
2)dont gossip about other people, not in front of them only behind their backs haha....(shudder from the cold)
3)enjoy your acuqaintance with the cj guitar club

From now onwards, starting this week, guitar will be on every Wednesday & Friday at around 3pm to prepare for our upcoming concert!

Our "golden day" is on 6 May!

And we'll have the whole school love us after that!
